Meet Skyler Golden

Executive Chef, Sommelier

 

Fry Family Farm's, Skyler Golden transformed his calling for cooking into an art form. Golden began his career in the hospitality industry over 17 years ago working in freestanding restaurants and luxury hotel kitchens. Chef Golden got his start at Omar's of Ashland, under the training of Chef James Williams and has returned to Southern Oregon joining the Fry Family Farm team as Executive Chef and Wine Buyer.

The early influence of living and cooking in the Pacific Northwest continues to drive his culinary techniques. Chef Golden integrates fresh, local and seasonal ingredients. He routinely visits local farmers, ranchers, artisans and wineries to find fresh inspirations for his menus. Chef Golden also has a passion for great wine and has begun his journey in The Court of Master Sommeliers program. He currently crafts the wine menus at The Farm Store focusing on Oregon's vast array of fine wine producers while incorporating hand selected wines from around the world.

The style of his food reflects Modern American cuisine with Pacific Northwest, French and Asian influences. His cuisine is focused on locally-sourced products, seasonal ingredients, impeccable presentation and cutting-edge menu choices to create a truly memorable experience.

Before moving back to Oregon Chef Golden was Chef de Cuisine of the Driskill Hotel in Austin Texas. Starting out in The Driskill's 1886 Café & Bakery as a Sous Chef in 2008. In 2010, Chef Golden was given a promotion to the Driskill Grill as Chef de Cuisine to continue his creativity and attention to detail at the number one restaurant in Austin. Chef Golden expressed "I have continued to pursue my passion for cooking and my desire to never stop learning about the culinary arts." 

The Driskill Hotel, which rates as a Four-Diamond, Five-Star property and also holds the distinction of appearing on Conde Nast’s coveted “Gold List” of the world’s best places to stay. The Driskill Grill is listed as one of the Top 25 US Hotel restaurants by Zagat, AAA - 2011 Four Diamond Award The Driskill Hotel - 15th consecutive year & The Driskill Grill - 13th consecutive year.
